So, I’m not at all new to photographing weddings at Wedgewood Boulder Creek, but I have to admit that Tiffany + Ryan’s stunning winter wedding at this gorgeous all inclusive Colorado wedding venue nestled in to the mountains of Boulder Colorado set the bar so high for any and all future weddings that I photograph on this beautiful property and to be honest they set the bar so absolutely high for all of the weddings I’ll be shooting throughout the 2019 Colorado wedding season!
Just a day prior to their mid-January winter wedding the city of Boulder Colorado got a fresh blanket of snow. When I pulled up to Wedgewood Boulder Creek you could tell that the snow was still completely untouched and it just looked like heaps and mounds of glitter blanketing the grounds (swoon worthy, am I right)? However, as epic as the postcard-esque scenery was on their special day it is Tiffany, Ryan and all of their closest humans that truly brought all of the magic in to what the day was.
Aside from our brief video chat when they hired me I had never met Tiffany or Ryan prior to their wedding day, but we immediately became good friends and it was so easy to see their hearts and document their beautifully emotional love story. They were both so excited to see each other while they were getting ready and their joy was easy to see through each and every little moment of the morning.
I set Ryan up for their first look on the snowy creekside and Tiffany came up behind him (in velvet flats through inches of snow – what a trooper!) and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and was reduced to tears immediately. What happened next just about melted me in to a puddle of tears and I still well up just thinking about it. With tears in both his eyes and hers, Ryan turned to me and said, “I have been waiting for this moment for 8 years.” Cue my almost actual death from heart explosion. It was the absolute sweetest thing and it was so evident how fiercely in love these two are.
The emotional moments continued on from there. After their first look and some snowy bride and groom photos we headed up the stairs and across the lot for the wedding party portraits. This is when I realized that Ryan’s father was a part of the wedding party as his best man! I have never seen that at a wedding before and I just absolutely loved it. Seeing as Tiffany and Ryan are the absolute best people ever, their wedding party people were all one in the same. It was so much fun and they were all such good sports about taking their pictures in the snow to get such a beautiful snowy mountain background for this Colorado winter wedding!
Before the ceremony I headed back up to the Wedgewood Boulder Creek bridal suite with Tiffany so she could warm up her feet and feel her toes again before walking down the aisle. In this moment, her grandmother hugged her tight and was tearing up. Cue me almost crying all over again. I swear, you guys, it was their personal goal to reduce me to tears as many times as possible when documenting their sweet wedding day.
The ceremony, as expected, was stunning and emotional. Even though it was a brisk less than 40º day every single one of their guests bundled up and watched them exchange their vows in front of beautiful a beautiful snow covered mountain in the background and underneath a stunning burgundy floral arch. At one point, there was even a group of deer walking down the mountain across the street! After they exchanged rings, vows and their first kiss as husband and wife it was time to party!
Their Wedgewood Boulder Creek reception was absolutely stunning and followed a burgundy and gold wedding color palette! They had so many fun and cute touches incorporated in to the reception space as well including an 8′ donut wall and individual scratch tickets with each guests menu with a little saying about how lucky they are to have their friends there. Get it? Scratch tickets – lucky! I am totally in love with all of their quirky fun touches!
After some emotional toasts, a super yummy buffet dinner, some peeks at the score of the football game that was on, a whole lot of dancing and a super fun Colorado wedding photo booth the bride and groom were sent off through a tunnel of ribbon wands and rode away like royalty in an epic stretch limo. Like I said above, this day was literal perfection and truly did set the bar so high for this wedding season!
