Being a Colorado Wedding Photographer means meeting and connecting with so many new, fun couple’s in love. Sometimes, it also means means re-connecting with people who you went to high school with and meeting the love of their life! That’s right – Kassi and I go all the way back to high school. Thanks to social media, we’ve stayed connected through the last chunk of years and when she got engaged in 2017 she reached out to me to be her wedding photographer! I was super elated, we met up for happy hour, got the ball rolling and waited for their September 2017 wedding to happen. Well, life happened first (as it tends to do!) and Kassi found out she was pregnant and that her due date was only about 10 days prior to the wedding they were planning! Being 9 month pregnant and weddinging isn’t the greatest idea and thankfully since their wedding was on their own private property it made it super seamless to shift everything over to June of this year instead!
Kassi + Josh got married in the gorgeous front yard of their family property in Berthoud, Colorado. The day was filled to the brim with gorgeous rustic details and even took photos with the farm animals around the property, but it is all the sweetest moments that made it the best day that it was. Before the ceremony, the bride and groom shared a moment alone together without seeing each other. They held hands on either side of the barn door just moments before the ceremony began. Kassi’s father also wrote her a beautiful letter and gifted her a necklace with the word faith on it. During the ceremony, Kassi’s mother wheeled their son down the aisle in a gorgeous vintage carriage with a sign that said “Daddy, here comes your girl”, their cake cutting ended up in an epic cake fight between the two of them, the first dance and parent dances were sweet enough to move you to tears and best of all Mother Nature put on one of the most stunning sunsets I have ever seen at a Colorado wedding and Kassi + Josh were more than eager to frolic through the fields to play and capture gorgeous photos with the golden light! It really was the most perfect day. 🙂
There are so many fun new traditions that you can do to add a little bit of extra personal meaning to your wedding ceremony. Kassi + Josh chose to plant a beautiful tree together!
I would absolutely say Kassi won this cake-fight battle.
Being a boy-mom myself, mother-son dances always hit me directly in the heart. Naturally, I bawled my entire way through editing this chunk of photos. Aren’t Josh and his Mom so sweet?
The anniversary dance is one of my favorite things that DJs do to get all of the couple’s out on the dance floor. The way it works is he asks all married couples to head out to the floor and then starts calling out time frames. For example: “If you have been married for less than 24 hours please leave the dance floor” “…10 years” “…50 years” so on and so forth. The last couple standing has been married the longest + gets to share their wisdom with the newlyweds. I think it’s so so special and the perfect way to grab a lot of photos of your guests together at one time before people start filtering out of the reception!
Clearly all of the single men at the wedding had zero intentions of going after that boutonniere when it was tossed – haha!
Nothing is more badass than a bride that is willing to climb over a 5′ metal fence to take some pictures with their family goats. And can we just talk about how adorable these baby goats are too?! B E S T.
The more the sun set, the more colorful the sky got. Colorado offers up some pretty fantastic sunsets but this one was absolutely one for the books so we obviously had to take advantage and take some extra photos!
After dancing in to the night with all of their best friends + family, Kassi and Josh ended the night with an epic sparkler exit!

Once again I just love your gorgeous work and how the day just flows. The country vibes are everything! I have a country wedding coming up and this is a great inspiration!
Love the rustic theme and set up, such a beautiful wedding! Beautiful captures, especially of all the little details. The pics with the sparklers are my faves.
After seeing these photos, I think that every Colorado wedding needs goats! 🙂 This wedding was absolutely gorgeous, Sharee, and you photographed it beautifully! Love!!
