JoAnna + Travis | Snowy Brainard Lake Engagement Photos

I’m so thankful that JoAnna + Travis braved the chilly weather for their Boulder Colorado engagement photos at Brainard Lake. They are getting married in California, where I’m sure it will be at least 50º warmer on their wedding day, but playing around in the snow with these two and their adorable St. Bernard dogs was just too much fun! Travis and JoAnna are just naturally so in love that photographing them was just about the easiest thing ever, fo’ real. Their two furry companions, Button and Moose, just put the cuteness level over the top and I feel pretty darn spoiled to have had the chance to photograph these two (well, four).

If you’re ever on the fence and asking yourself if you should bring your dog to your engagement session the answer is yes. 100% yes. yesyesyesyaaas. Including animals in your engagement session is never a bad idea. It’s ok if they’re hyper, or puppies, or stubborn or anything that’s difficult to photograph; that’s ok! There’s nothing some dog treats and animal whispering can’t sort out. Besides, if things end up going a little awry it still makes for some silly and fun photos. Moose and Button were SO well behaved, especially as 100lb puppies, but there was a little moment where one of them got a little bit excited and jumped up on JoAnna and Travis and that moment is just as much my favorite as the others!

Another fun and personal element to this engagement session is that JoAnna + Travis brought a cute blanket from home. Blankets make for some super cute snuggly moments and it also made it so that they could sit on/in the snow together without completely freezing. You wouldn’t believe it without model-esque these guys look in front of the camera but it was only an entire 14º outside when we did their engagement photos. Thankfully, the breeze was super light and it was totally worth it.
