today wasn’t just another ordinary day as a boulder colorado photographer – I have a fun backstory: this red-headed goddess, caity, and I go way back. we actually went to summer camp together almost 20 years ago (and I suddenly feel very old writing this down lol) and she was one of the very first people I photographed when I bought my first camera 10 years ago!
this evening I had the privilege of photographing her with her boyfriend of 6 years, Daniel, on one of the prettiest spring evenings ever. there was a 70% chance of precipitation in today’s forecast and It actually poured rain for the majority of our drives up the mountain, but we all came prepared with umbrellas which means it stopped raining immediately when we arrived and the weather was perfectly magical.
a fall on a cactus, slipping off of a tree stump and ending the session by laying on the soaking wet ground was 10000% worth it for how incredible these photos are! the drinks to follow were very well earned. stay tuned until the very end to see the bloopers!
Any photo session that ends with the couple doing a dab ranks pretty high in my book. And now for some of the most hilarious + epic bloopers that have ever taken place during any couples session / engagement session / anniversary session (these two cuties are just dating…for now!)
Up first: the deer that finally stood still enough to be a part of the photo session…because *oops* he was actually pooping.
and then, one of my poses went terrible wrong. I told caity and daniel to stand about 10 feet apart and run towards each other and celebrate like they had just won the lottery. between caity’s slippery dress, daniel’s slippery jacket and the fact that they were standing on a mountain side they went down hard. but did they just fall? nope. caity landed directly on a cactus and an entire cactus head stuck itself in to her sweater.
I’m seriously so glad these two were such good sports for a bizarre spring weather + extra clumsy photo session. I had the absolute best time!
