Winter Sapphire Point Elopement in Dillon – Loveland Pass Lake | Thomas + Jaye

Thomas and Jaye had no idea that when they met at a house party in high school during a short and quick golf cart ride would some day turn in to a beautiful Sapphire Point Elopement. I have to admit that one of my favorite things about being a Colorado Elopement Photographer is all of the fun stories I get to hear about how the relationships of the couple’s I photograph began. I absolutely love that both Thomas and Jaye felt a spark (yes, even while sober!) on that brief golf cart ride around the house party property and now, years later, they’re having a stunning lake dillon elopement with their two best friends by their sides for their stunning colorado mountain elopement.

As a wedding photographer that frequently photographs a lot of Colorado destination weddings and Colorado destination elopements, Sapphire Point is one of my favorite mountain wedding venues. Don’t get me wrong, Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park is at the top of that list for destination and adventure elopements too, but it is just the absolute best that Sapphire Point Overlook not only has epic and unique mountain views of it’s own and sits in front of Lake Dillon, but it is also a quick hop skip and a drive from other epic locations like Loveland Pass, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge and Keystone. And let’s face it, when it comes to intimate weddings when you have this surplus of time for epic couple’s portraits on your wedding day it’s so nice when you can spend the majority of your time photographing in these epic places rather than spending so much time in the car!

Thomas and Jaye exchanged vows at Sapphire Point overlook with their two best friends (and a few chipmunk wedding crashers) by their side. Lake Dillon was glowing in the sun but the mountains were capped in snow, which made for the most beautiful backdrop for their destination elopement in Colorado. After they shared their first kiss as husband and wife we headed to multiple other awesome locations in the Keystone, Dillon, Breckenridge area for a few shots of whiskey and a few hundred epic bride and groom photos! My favorite moment of the day, though, has to be that these two shared their first dance as husband and wife at the very top of loveland pass in the middle of a frozen lake. It was breathtaking enough that we went from sunny skies and dry ground to a snowy pass, but the fact that these two were truly up for making their day an adventure was just the absolute best.
