Cheley Camp was the perfect Estes Park elopement location for Maegan and Josh’s microwedding in August! When these two reached out to me in July they knew they wanted to elope in Estes Park and were considering an elopement location in Rocky Mountain National Park. However, RMNP had already put a freeze on issuing new elopement permits until the end of October. Since the bride, groom and their families already had lodging accommodations booked in Estes Park at Coyote Mountain Lodge I hit the drawing board of finding a beautiful elopement location in or near Estes Park, but outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. There are some gorgeous little nooks in Estes Park, Allenspark and all throughout Larimer county, but we really hit the jackpot with Cheley Colorado Camps being available!
One of my favorite Estes Park wedding planners, The Perfect Touch Planning, had recently told me about this gorgeous property but I hadn’t had a chance to go check it out yet. She sent over some phone photos and we were all smitten with the mountain views, small lake, aspen grove and horses on the property. It’s everything you could want in a mountain elopement and then some! They booked the spot immediately and we eagerly awaited their elopement day!
They started their day off at Coyote Mountain Lodge near downtown Estes. Josh got ready with Maegan’s boys in one suite and Maegan got ready with Josh’s daughter and her mother in another suite on the property. After everyone was ‘wedding-ready’ we hopped in the car and headed for their elopement location at Cheley Camp.
The bride and groom did a first look in the aspen meadow on the property before heading to the pond with a Rocky Mountain backdrop for their short and sweet ceremony performed by the father of the bride. After the ceremony, some family photos and a few funny COVID related wedding photos we explored the rest of the Cheley Colorado Camp property until the sun set behind the mountains.
We ended the evening with them frolicking through a horse filled meadow before they headed back to join their families for dinner! What a wonderful elopement day :).
