Dunafon Castle, a hidden gem of a wedding venue, is located just 15 miles from Denver in the beautiful Bear Creek Canyon. Mackinzey and Alex chose this magical venue for their wedding day because they loved the historic charm! This castle wedding venue in Colorado has a ceremony spot surrounded by a creek and the grounds have gorgeous mature trees surrounding the castle, which provided a gorgeous backdrop for their ceremony during sunset. Their castle rooftop dance party reception was epic, too!
The rooms inside Dunafon Castle are filled with historic charm and were the perfect setting for the couple to get ready with their wedding attendants. After they got ready, we headed into the forest area adjacent to the castle where they shared their first look. Since Mackinzey and Alex had their wedding ceremony during sunset and dusk, their first look allowed us to do all of their bride and groom portraits, wedding party portraits and family portraits before the ceremony.
As if getting married at a castle in Colorado wasn’t romantic enough, a rainstorm rolled in just as their ceremony was ending and made for a perfectly moody ceremony, first dance and father-daughter dance. Their DJ even broke out the fog machine for their spotlight dances!
After a quick outfit change from being rained on, they enjoyed the rest of the night with a rooftop dance party reception at Dunafon Castle.
