There was a sign on display at Alicia and Erik’s Lyons Colorado wedding at Planet Bluegrass with the words: “We’ve waited 967 days for this. Party accordingly.” And party accordingly is exactly what they all did. After handling the postponement of their original wedding plans like champions, these two finally got to celebrate with all of their family and friends and it was a day well worth the wait!
From their amazing tribe of friends and family to their sweet first look, emotional hand-written vows, ceremony officiated by a family member, and their absolutely stunning wedding decor it’s hard to pick a favorite from a day that was filled with all of the best things.
The meet-cute:
Erik and Alicia met through a group of friends when living in Charleston, SC. Erik grew up there and Alicia had moved to SC to attend the College of Charleston and ended up living there for 9 years. They met for the first time at an oyster roast. Erik was coming from a bicycle bar crawl… basically a bunch of dudes wearing dresses, riding silly bikes throughout town. He was drunk, wearing a purple dress and Alicia had just gotten out of a relationship with another guy named Eric. Needless to say is was not love at first sight. It was through months of intramural kickball, volleyball, cycling, burger nights and a pretty wonderful camping trip to Asheville that Alicia realized that Erik (with a K) was a keeper.
The proposal:
Erik proposed to Alicia while visiting family back in Alicia’s hometown of Seaside Park, NJ in September 2018. Erik proposed in the beach gazebo that is super special to Alicia’s family. Her dad’s ashes were scattered there. Erik said that because he couldn’t ask him permission to marry Alicia that he at least wanted to ask her at his gazebo.
When I asked these two what they were looking forward to the most on their wedding day, they said they were most looking forward to “having this one weekend for everyone to come together and celebrate the union of their two families, while enjoying all Colorado has to offer. We’re also PUMPED for an epic dance party at the end of the night.” so it’s no surprise that their dance floor was absolutely epic all night long.
