There’s something magical about a fall wedding, and The Barn at Raccoon Creek in Colorado is the perfect setting to exchange vows and celebrate with loved ones. The warm colors of the changing leaves and cozy atmosphere set the stage for a romantic and memorable event. As a Colorado wedding photographer, I was thrilled to capture the beautiful autumn nuptials of Kristen and Dan at The Barn at Raccoon Creek and so grateful to have my talented videographer team join me to document their day on video as well.
Colorado Wedding Venue – The Barn at Raccoon Creek
The Barn at Raccoon Creek in Littleton is a stunning Colorado wedding venue nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The rustic charm of the barn, paired with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, made for a picturesque backdrop for the couple’s ceremony and reception.
Getting Ready
Kristen and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready in the on-site bridal cottage while Dan and his groomsmen got ready in the upstairs suite in the barn. Even though The Barn at Raccoon Creek is a historic and rustic wedding venue I love that they have modern amenities and large spaces where couples can get ready separately! It’s rare to find both in the same space.
The Ceremony and the Meet Cute
The ceremony took place outdoors near the bridal cottage and adjacent to the barn. As they exchanged vows and said “I do,” the fall foliage provided the perfect natural backdrop for the ceremony. The couple’s officiant wrote their ceremony script narrative to go along with the story of when the two first met, which was during the solar eclipse.
Here is a story of the bride and groom’s meet-cute, from the bride:
“We met at the University of Colorado Denver on August 21, 2017 during the solar eclipse. Dan came up to me and asked me if I knew where he could get a pair of the special eclipse viewing glasses and I ended up sharing my pair with him and we chit chatted a bit. 5 days later, I invited Dan to meet me and my friends at Tracks Night Club 🙂 I don’t remember if I told him it was a gay club.. but he came and we danced.”
Family Portraits, Bride & Groom Portraits and Cocktail Hour
After the wedding ceremony the guests headed to the lawn and patio in front of the barn for yard games, snacks and mingling while the bride and groom’s family members, bridesmaids and groomsmen took group portraits. After group photos we hopped on a golf cart and headed on to the Barn at Raccoon Creek golf course for some portraits of just the bride and groom during a gorgeous golden hour and Colorado sunset!
The Reception
After the ceremony, family photos and sunset portraits with the bride and groom the couple joined their guests in front of the barn for a sparkler lit first dance, father daughter dance and mother son dance. You definitely have to watch their highlight film below to see the groom’s dance with his mom, it’s one of my all-time favorite wedding moments! After their spotlight dances being treated to a delicious meal and drinks in the barn, and some heartfelt toasts Kristen did a secret dress change and surprised everyone by dancing the traditional Hawaiian hula. It was such a beautiful moment! Then, the DJ kept the party going late into the night and the couple danced the night away with all of their friends and family members.
As Colorado wedding videographers and photographers, it was an absolute joy to capture the love and joy of this beautiful fall wedding at The Barn at Raccoon Creek. The couple’s love for each other and their family and friends shone through in every moment, and it was an honor to document such a special occasion.
