Headwaters Center Wedding / Headwaters River Journey Wedding in Winter Park Colorado | Rebecca + Alec

Rebecca and Alec’s wedding at the Headwaters Center, also known as Headwaters River Journey, in Winter Park, Colorado, was a picturesque celebration of love set against the backdrop of the stunning fall colors in September. As their wedding photographer, I had the privilege of capturing every meaningful moment, from their intimate first look to the lively dance floor that kept guests on their feet all night.

The day began with Rebecca and Alec getting ready separately, surrounded by their closest friends and family. The anticipation and excitement filled the air as they prepared for the momentous occasion. The decision to have a first look allowed them to share an intimate moment before the ceremony and capture beautiful portraits amidst the vibrant fall foliage that adorned Winter Park.

Choosing a first look also provided an opportunity to take all the essential photos with their wedding attendants and families before the ceremony. This thoughtful decision allowed them to maximize the time spent with their guests during the cocktail hour and after the ceremony, creating a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.

The ceremony itself was a unique and heartfelt experience. Rebecca and Alec wanted their guests to be fully present, so they began with a “photo minute” where attendees could capture their own photos on phones and tablets. After this special moment, they requested everyone to silence their devices and fully immerse themselves in the unplugged wedding ceremony. The ceremony was framed by a breathtaking floral backdrop created by The Stalk Market, adding a touch of natural beauty to the already picturesque setting. Officiated by a close friend, the ceremony was a reflection of the couple’s personalities and love story.

One of the most touching moments occurred during the father-daughter dance when Rebecca surprised everyone with a projector that played a video of her dancing with her dad in ballet as a little girl. The heartfelt video moved everyone to tears, myself included, creating an emotional and memorable experience for everyone.

After their sweet parent dances and some heartfelt toasts Rebecca changed into a wedding reception dress and kicked off the dance party portion of the night! Friends and family joined in, creating a lively atmosphere that continued well into the night. Even Rebecca’s brother, stationed at a military base, was able to join the festivities via video chat, adding an extra layer of connection to the celebration.

It’s clear that Rebecca and Alec share a deep and meaningful connection. Alec’s surprise proposal, orchestrated with the help of friends and a small plane ride over significant locations in their relationship, showcased the effort and love he poured into making the moment unforgettable for Rebecca.

Their favorite things about each other highlighted the strong foundation of their relationship. Alec’s optimism and creative mind complement Rebecca’s loyalty, support, and keen sense of style. Their shared excitement for bringing friends and family together for a giant celebration reflected their desire to unite their worlds and create lasting memories.

Rebecca and Alec’s wedding was a beautiful blend of personal touches, emotional moments, and vibrant celebrations. As their wedding photographer, it was an honor to capture the essence of their love story in every frame, preserving the magic of their special day in the picturesque setting of Winter Park, Colorado.
