Sustainable Colorado Wedding at Planet Bluegrass in the Spring | Jessie + William

Oftentimes, people assume that taking an eco-friendly approach to their wedding day means compromising on the details and decor. Jessie and William’s wedding day at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons Colorado is proof that you can still have a stunning celebration while still keeping things sustainable. Sustainable weddings are becoming increasingly popular as couples seek to reduce the environmental impact of their special day. By making sustainable choices, couples can create a wedding that not only celebrates their love but also respects the planet and the communities around them.

Their Love Story

Jessie and Will met at Absinthe House in Boulder in 2014. She was in her senior year at CU and he had recently moved out to Colorado from Ohio. Will asked Jessie to dance and the rest is history! Jessie fell in love with Will’s sense of humor and loving personality. “Everyone loves being around him and she could tell that he loved all of his people to their core”Everyone loves to be around Will and he loves his people to the core.” Will fell in love with Jessie for her sweet and deeply caring personality. “Her love is so strong and it makes me feel like the only person in the world. She makes me feel complete, happy, loved and continues to blow me away with her smarts, determination and drive for what she thinks is important in life.”

Will proposed to Jessie by setting up a Zoom call with both sides of the family on her grandma’s 90th birthday. When he walked her out to the balcony of their apartment she was surprised to see everyone on the computer screen. It was a surprise for everyone involved and when Will got on one knee and popped the question no one could hear anything but her grandma yelling “OH MY GOD” over and over and over again. They bought their first home together shortly after and began planning their wedding for late Spring of 2022!

Sustainable Colorado Wedding Venue – Planet Bluegrass

With its commitment to sustainability, Planet Bluegrass is an ideal choice for couples who want to celebrate their love while also taking care of the planet. This wedding venue offers couples the opportunity to have a wedding that aligns with their environmental values, without sacrificing scenery, style or comfort. The Wildflower Pavilion reception space, for example, features solar panels on the roof that provide renewable energy for weddings. These solar panels prevent an average 15 tons of CO2 emissions per year! The zero-waste policies that this venue advocates for prove that it is more than possible to entertain and celebrate while being environmentally responsible.

Sustainable Wedding Ideas and Eco-Friendly Practices

A sustainable wedding involves using eco-friendly and socially responsible practices throughout the planning process, from the venue and decorations to the food and transportation. This can include choosing a venue with green certification, using locally-sourced and organic foods, opting for reusable or biodegradable decor, and encouraging guests to carpool or use public transportation. Here are just a few of the ways Jessie and Will’s celebration was eco-friendly…

They worked with an eco-friendly transportation company, The Green Ride, to bring their guests to and from the venue.
Their florist’s business, Rose Bud Thorn Florals, is rooted in sustainability and locally sourced all of the flowers used for the chuppah, conversation set installations and personal flowers.
Their full service catering company, Forage Sisters, uses farm-fresh and field-foraged ingredients.
Their ski themed conversation sets and reception decor were all rented from Last Chair Customs, recycled or reusable.
