The Barn at Sunset Ranch Wedding
The weather in Colorado is known for its unpredictability, and Caro and Peter’s wedding day in late October at The Barn at Sunset Ranch in Buena Vista was no exception! We experienced all four seasons, from sunny skies to rain, hail, and a massive snowstorm at the end of the night! Crazy weather aside, their Colorado wedding day was everything they had dreamed of and more, surrounded by loved ones amidst the rustic charm of the ranch. There were so many heartfelt moments shared with family and friends, so much laughter and an epic dance party that went well into the night. Seeing their loved ones come together in such a beautiful setting was a dream come true and it was obvious that Caro and Peter savored every moment of their wedding day and becoming husband and wife!
They got ready separately with their wedding attendants, then shared a first look with each other so they could take all of their bridesmaids, groomsmen and couple’s portraits before the ceremony! They even included their cute dog, Lego, in their bride and groom photos!
Their ceremony, officiated by their friend James, was heartfelt and personal. The music, played by close friends, added an extra special touch as Caro and Peter made their way down the aisle. Despite the wild weather, the ceremony was filled with warmth and love. Following the heartfelt exchange of vows, the newlyweds headed into The Barn, which was decorated with charming travel-themed decor to reflect their adventurous spirits!
The evening started off with heartfelt toasts from the best man, maid of honor, and their parents, highlighting the deep bonds shared by all. Then, Caro and Peter surprised their guests with a fun and energetic first dance that they had choreographed and practiced for months before the wedding! The dance floor remained packed throughout the night!
Even though the cloud coverage prevented us from taking the astro photos we had planned on, I couldn’t resist bringing them outside in the snow storm before heading out for the night and taking some epic snow photos in front of the barn instead! Being the wedding photographer for Caro and Peter’s wedding at The Barn at Sunset Ranch in Buena Vista, Colorado was such a treat!
The Story of Caro & Peter
Caroline and Peter’s story from their first meeting to their engagement is a sweet tale of modern romance. They met online through the dating app Bumble, where Peter snuck under Caroline’s age filter by just a few weeks. Their first date was a simple coffee outing at the City Park farmers’ market, which turned into a lengthy chat despite a funny mix-up at the beginning. (Caro was originally nervous she’d been catfished (Peter texted saying he was sitting on one of the park benches, and, when she looked, there was only one MUCH older gentleman seated — Peter was actually in the coffee line and *intended* to be sitting on the bench soon) but thankfully wasn’t freaked out enough to leave.) Peter even took notes afterward to remember every detail of their conversation, showing his thoughtfulness from the start.
After reading their responses to a questionnaire they filled out before their wedding, I already knew it was going to be an incredible day because of how they talked about each other and described their relationship. They really adore each other. Peter feels like a piece is missing when he’s not with Caroline, and he always has a blast doing things together. If he’s feeling down, Caroline knows how to cheer him up. She’s amazing at celebrating special days and keeping their everyday life on track. Peter sees Caroline as dependable, caring, fun, and silly. He’s thrilled and grateful to spend his future with her. On Caroline’s side, she talks about this strong sense of trust she felt early on with Peter. Even after almost six years, that trust is still there. Peter encourages her to be her best self and is not just a great partner but also a fun dad to their dog, Lego. They work together like a team and love going on adventures together, whether it’s a simple walk to a cafe or a big international trip!
Their engagement happened during a trip to Ireland and was a lovely surprise for Caroline. Peter planned it at Castle Blarney, and even though Caroline didn’t suspect a thing, the moment he proposed overlooking a beautiful lake was unforgettable. With their engagement, they started dreaming about their future together, eagerly anticipating the next step in their journey which brought them to planning their beautiful wedding day at The Barn at Sunset Ranch in Buena Vista!
