The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn was the venue for Sarah and Drew’s wedding reception, and as a seasoned Colorado wedding photographer familiar with shooting at The Homestead at Black Canyon Inn several times over the past decade, I was excited to explore this new space on the property! It’s clear that The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn is a standout choice for Estes Park weddings, and I’m grateful to have been a part of Sarah and Drew’s unforgettable event.

Sarah and Drew made their wedding day their own in every way possible! They embraced the traditional elements of the day that mattered to them, like a large reception at The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn with toasts, a first dance, a cake cutting and a fun night of open dancing but they embraced the fact that they still wanted their celebration to feel intimate and intentional too, by having their wedding ceremony at Hidden Valley in Rocky Mountain National Park with just their immediate families!

They started their day off with getting ready in the suites at The Boulders before sharing a first look with their three adorable dogs, Blueberry & Banshee & Baylee, at the pond on the property! Then, we ventured into Rocky Mountain National Park for portraits before joining their families at Hidden Valley for their intimate micro-wedding ceremony! After they wrapped up their small and sweet ceremony we headed back to Black Canyon Inn and they did an epic reception entrance to kick off a night surrounded by 150 of their favorite people to celebrate their marriage!

The Story of Sarah & Drew

Sarah and Drew’s love story started off at a local brewery in Carlsbad where they hit it off while playing cards with mutual friends. Sarah, on her way to San Diego, felt an instant connection with Drew, and so she naturally spilled her life story to him that night! Drew liked what he heard so they made plans for an official first date and spent it playing Mario Kart for hours!

Even though Sarah and Drew had talked about getting married and Sarah had picked out her ring the proposal was still a total surprise! While enjoying a cozy backyard fire, Drew disappeared inside and returned not with drinks, but with a ring! Even though they knew they wanted to get married and had the ring, he wanted to make a special moment out of it!

Sarah and Drew’s connection is undeniable, fueled by their shared passions and caring nature. They understand each other deeply, cherishing life’s simple joys while pursuing their individual ambitions with gusto. Their love isn’t just about being together; it’s about supporting each other’s dreams, like their exciting venture into creating their own brewery, Nurvis Purvis Brewing Co., in their hometown!
